Finding the Perfect Halloween Costume

Posted: Updated:

Millions of Americans, both adults and children will dress up this Halloween. In-fact the National Retail Federation estimates that Americans will spend $2.6 billion on costumes this year alone.

Five million adults will dress up as a witch this Halloween, making it the number one costume choice for adults. The number one costume for children will come as no surprise, with nearly four million children choosing to be a princess this Halloween.

Regardless of general costumes, many pop culture costumes are hot on this years store shelves. The Miley Cyrus "Twerk It," costume is expected to fly off of shelves along with Robin Thicke's suit, both became famous at this years VMA Awards.

TV shows have also made several costumes hot this year. Including "Breaking Bad", "Duck Dynasty," and "The Walking Dead". Package costume shops carry most, if not all of these costumes but you can also visit a local costume shop for added flair.

Sheryl Little, of Creative Costumes, says you'll get more out of your costume at an actual costume shop and it's not as hard as you'd think.

"When you come in to get it you'll know it fits, sometimes you go to buy one off the rack, it says medium, you wear a medium, you get it home it doesn't fit and sometimes you don't get all the accessories. Where as you come here, we make sure it fits you when you leave, you get the chains, the hats, the wigs, all the accessories needed, " said Little.

Creative Costumes is located at 1301 2nd Ave. South in Moorhead and depending on what you rent, it can actually be comparable or less than what you would spend at packaged costume store.
