Man Arrested After Throwing Axe Through Bar Window

Posted: Updated:

A Sanborn man faces a number of charges after he was arrested Thursday night in Sanborn following an incident at the Sandoon Saloon.

Bar owner Tony Wendel tells NewsDakota.com that the man threw an axe through the front window of the bar, it deflected off a sign and he says luckily it did not strike any patrons. Wendel says the man was kicked out of the bar for what he described as bad behavior.

Barnes County Sheriff Randy McClaflin says 39-year-old Terry Lee Cornell II is lived in Sanborn for about 2 months. Cornell faces charges of Reckless Endangerment a Class C Felony. Cornell is on probation out of Cass County and is a felon with prior charges of Aggravated Assault, Menacing and Disorderly Conduct.

McClaflin says members of the area SWAT team, Barnes County Sheriff's office and the Valley City police department assisted in the arrest Thursday night in Sanborn.

A response to the incident posted on the Facebook page for the Sandoon Saloon says the man threw the axe "exactly one minute after being kicked out."  The post reads, in part, "Thanks to all the law enforcement members that were involved in getting this guy off our streets of Sanborn."
