We all know winter is coming, but it's tough to think about if you just can't appreciate cold, wind and snow. Well, if you're a believer in the Old Farmers Almanac, enjoy our beautiful fall days this week. It's calling for a much colder and snowier winter than average.
But, here's the good news. The National Weather Service does not agree with at least part of that forecast, regarding our long, cold season.
Greg Gust, National Weather Service: "It look like going into the fall that we're going to be somewhat on the warmer and drier side of normal."
However, all you snowmobile riders and snow lovers don't need to worry, the forecast also calls for exactly what you want, later on this winter.
Greg Gust: "When we get into the heart of winter, late December, January… we should be in cold and snowier weather, and there is the prospect that, that period, January, February could be colder and snowier than normal."
Gust says when you add all that up, it means an overall forecast that calls for about an average winter.
