New Information In Case Of Missing Kittson County Woman

Posted: Updated:

The search continues for a missing Kittson County woman, who is suffering from depression.

Dawn Carlson of Lake Bronson, Minnesota has not been seen since last week. Carlson was driving a 2001, black Sable like this one with Minnesota license plate number: 743-ECY.

The Sheriff's Department does not suspect foul play. They say Dawn Carlson was last seen here, in Karlstad last Wednesday morning, driving her black Sable.

Authorities say Carlson was unemployed and apparently suffering from some mental issues.

Deputy Mark Wilwant, Kittson County Sheriff's Dept."Likes to keep to herself. Initially it wasn't that alarming that she disappeared because she likes to keep to herself. But, family and friends say she's never done this to this extent before."

Today, a State Patrol helicopter flew the area searching for Carlson's car. Sunday, several local fire departments searched around Carlson's Lake Bronson home and across the County. But, she may have left the area.

Deputy Wilwant says it appears Carlson has been trying to put together enough money to get down to the Brainard-Baxter area to see family and friends. We now have learned the Carlson was also seen last Monday at a Thief River car dealership looking for money.

Dep. Wilwant: "I mean, she's going around trying to sell her car. She was trying to sell some of her stuff to possibly get some money, which would go along with her wanting to get to a different area."

Wilwant says at this point, authorities around Brainerd have also, not had any luck in finding the missing woman.

If you have any information regarding the whereabouts of Dawn Carlson, you're asked to contact police immediately.
