MN Native Shares in Nobel Prize for Medicine

A St. Paul, Minnesota, native is one of three recipients of this year's Nobel Prize for Physiology or Medicine. The Nobel committee announced its decision this morning in Stockholm, Sweden.

Randy Schekman, fellow American James Rothman and German-born researcher Thomas Suedhof will share the prize for their discoveries related to how hormones, enzymes and other important substances are transported within cell.

Sixty-four-year-old Schekman is a professor at University of California, Berkeley. Rothman, 62, is at Yale University, and Suedhof, 52, joined Stanford University in 2008.
