MINNESOTA LAUNCHES CLICK IT OR TICKET CAMPAIGN

Posted: Updated:

Within the last three year's, Minnesota has had 852 deaths on their roadways. That number could have split by nearly half if passengers were belted in. Now, 400 agencies statewide are on a mission to save lives.

"our goal is to get people to buckle up each and every time they get behind the wheel."

Sergeant Jesse Grabow of Minnesota's Highway State Patrol says the Click It or Ticket campaign is in full effect. Meaning more officers will be on the lookout for unbelted drivers.

"By not wearing your seat belt you're 6 times more likely to be injured in a crash."

Winter weather is another reason why law enforcement is launching the campaign.

"...difficult traveling conditions as far as driving and with the increase of crashes you need to increase your chances of surviving the crash, reducing risk of injury and death.

And if you choose to break the law, Sergeant Grabow says a slap on the wrist just won't due. Expect a hefty fine of one hundred dollars if you're not buckled in.

"When you get behind the wheel of that vehicle you have to make that choice whether it's to wear the seat belt, obey the speed limit, pay attention and of course never drink and drive. If you can follow those four things, chances are you'll be just fine."

The big take away driving this national campaign.

"You need to buckle up each and every time you get behind that vehicle. "
