20th Anniversary of Kevin Mahoney's Disappearance

Posted: Updated:

After 20 years of searching one family is still looking for their loved one. Kevin Mahoney disappeared October 2nd, 1993 without a trace. The family says they will never give up searching.

"It's my brother and I just can't give up." Says Michele Elsenpeter has been searching for her brother Kevin for the past 20 years.

"He's a funny guy, he loves fishing, camping, painting, artwork, kids." Michele laughs thinking back to the past.

But his personality is starting to fade as the years pass with no signs of Kevin, but Michele and her daughter Tiffany won't give up their search.

"I'll stand by her side and all my lifetime too." Tiffany says. She misses the uncle, and godfather she has never gotten a chance to talk to.

"We are a close-knit family so we just got to keep at it and do what we got to do til we find him or get some answers, and have some closure." Michele says.

Kevin's family looks now for answers to what may of happened that night 20 years ago.

"It's like when you watch TV, and you see this stuff on TV and you don't think it'd ever happen to you, and it's like a nightmare everyday almost." Michele says shaking her head.

Because Kevin is a son, a brother, and a godfather who is still missed. They won't give up fighting for answers.

"It's mostly now about closure, we want to know where he's at, what happened to him, and maybe give him a burial, a peaceful place for him." Michele pleads.

And until they know, she says they will continue to look for him.

"If it happens to be I'll be out here in 20 years, doing the same thing. I wanna have closure for him, for the family." Michele says.

Police say this is a cold case after so many years of Kevin being missing with no clues. The last lead they had was in 2011, police went to the house where he was last seen and dug up basement ground. That lead, unfortunately, brought them to another dead end.

If you know anything about Mahoney you're asked to contact your local police department.
