Twin Cities Murder Case Leads to Arrest of Valley City University Student

The Valley City Police Department says they have arrested a university student who is wanted in connection with a Minneapolis shooting that left one person dead and another hurt. 

Valley City police say that the Minneapolis Police Department contacted the department on September 28, asking for their help in the shooting investigation.

Minneapolis police received a warrant Tuesday for the arrest of Cedric Chappell Jr., 21, for a count of second degree murder and one count of attempted murder in the second degree.  

On Tuesday, Valley City police, Barnes County Sheriff's Office and the Stutsman County Narcotics Task Force located Chappell, on the campus of Valley City State University and arrested him. Chappell is a student at Valley City State University. He was taken into custody without incident.

Minneapolis police said Tuesday that they have sent officers to Valley City to continue the investigation.
