Investigators Looking for Suspects After Bemidji Area Stabbing

The Beltrami County Sheriff's Office is looking for a suspect and 2 men considered "persons of interest" after a stabbing in Bemidji.

Early Sunday morning deputies and Bemidji Ambulance were called to a report of an 18-year-old man who had been stabbed in the back.

Investigators say Jace Ugrich of Bovey was trying to intervene in a fight between two men, when an unknown suspect came from behind and stabbed him.  It happened at a large party on property owned by the Theta Tau Epsilon Fraternity Alumni Corporation on Hensel Driver NE (located in Frohn Township, 5 miles east Bemidji).

Sheriff's Investigators are requesting help from the public to identify the stabbing suspect.  Investigators also seeking to interview two persons of interest:

  1. A white male about 6 feet tall with a skinny build.  He was wearing a dark sweatshirt and a black baseball cap with the word "Dope " on the front.
  2. A white male about 6 feet tall with light colored hair.  He was wearing a red hooded sweatshirt.
