Man Golfing at All of Minnesota's Golf Courses

Posted: Updated:

Golfing isn't just a hobby for one Minnesota man, he is on a mission to golf every single one of the state's golf courses.

Art Hennington, a 65-year-old from Elk River, Minnesota, golfed his first course in 1964 in Sauk Centre.  This week, he is in the valley swinging his clubs and checking off courses on his list of more than 400 golf courses.

The retired school teacher says it's "A dumb idea that got to be an obsession." That so-called obsession has allowed him to travel and see places he may not have come across otherwise.

"It's kinda fun and really a great chance to see Minnesota," Hennington explains, "We've been in every corner of the state and it's amazing all the little towns and boroughs that there are out there."

Hennington golfed at Village Green Golf Course, the Meadows and the Moorhead Country Club on Monday. On Tuesday he will golf on courses in Hawley, Lake Park and Detroit Lakes. When he finishes, he will have played 482 courses in Minnesota alone.
