Firefighters See Flames Shooting From Burger King Vents in North Fargo

Posted: Updated:

Fargo firefighters and police responded to a fire at the Burger King restaurant across from the Fargodome Friday morning. It was reported around 5:45 am.

Employees told fire crews they were prepping for a 6 a.m. opening when they spotted flames by a deep fryer. Workers dropped dry chemical on the flames to extinguish the fire, but it was so big that they all left the building and called 9-1-1.

Firefighters arrived to find flames shooting from a vent roof. They put the fire out with extinguishers and spent about an hour checking for any fire hidden behind walls, in vents and in the attic.

Police were called in to block off a section of road near the scene, which is 1333 19the Avenue North.

The food inspector needs to clear the restaurant before it can reopen, since the dry chemical was used in the kitchen area to put out the fire.
