West Fargo Students Win Visit from MN Vikings Runningback

Posted: Updated:

The Vikings and Packers got together on Tuesday, the West Fargo High Packers and Minnesota Vikings runningback Toby Gerhart, that is.

The Vikings player paid his first visit to North Dakota to talk with students in physical education classes and those on sports teams who participated in the "Fuel Up to Play 60" campaign.

The students won the visit by making some healthy changes around school, being more active and eating healthy. The program is sponsored by the Midwest Dairy Council and the National Football League.

"He's obviously a hardcore athlete and like you have to give your body good nutrition and he obviously does with how much he eats and what he eats so that you can be that active and still have all the energy that he does," said West Fargo senior Maggie McIntosh.

Gerhart spoke with students about how his healthy choices got him to where he is.

"Our society needs role models and people to help project the message and there's a growing trend of obesity with kids and with adults and if we could start at a young age to get people to be healthy and be active then we can make a change," Gerhart told students.

Students had a chance to ask their personal questions and take a photo with Gerhart.
