ND Developmental Center Celebrating Name Change

Posted: Updated:

GRAFTON, N.D. (AP) - The former North Dakota Developmental Center in Grafton is celebrating a name change. The home for intellectually and developmentally disabled people is now called the Life Skills and Transition Center. Officials are holding an open house for the community on Tuesday.

Superintendent Alex Schweitzer says North Dakota over the past decade has dramatically changed how services are provided to people with disabilities, to help them fulfill personal goals and dreams. He says the new name reflects that.

The Grafton center is part of the state Department of Human Services. It employs about 375 people and serves 86 people.
