Moorhead Man Makes Viral YouTube Videos

Posted: Updated:

Have you ever see those YouTube videos and think you could make money filming one of your own? Well there's one family right here in the Valley whose lives and pets have gone viral.

You watch the videos from wedding dances, to babies, but a well known pet video of a scared lab meeting a kitten came straight out of Moorhead from the Frost family.

"The YouTube video was doing all the same as my other videos and then all of a sudden it took off." Tom Frost says.

That video has over 2.5 million views. Together Tom and his daughters have put up hundreds of videos up of their family and pets.

"in 2006 we put our first video up very cautiously, and then right away they got views and for me making the videos is probably more fun than watching them. For me it's more of a hobby just something to do." Tom laughs.

And today he has well over 5,000 subscribers, and after becoming a YouTube partner he now makes some money off the funny or helpful videos he posts.

"In running ads on that, I went from making like 10 cents a week to that video can make me 10 bucks a month." Tom explains.

But the money made has also come from long hours, which Tom and one of his daughters Kayt say it's like making only 20 cents an hour.

"In the past year we've put in a lot of work, I mean we have learned to always have a camera on us or with us or near us." Kayt Frost says.

But to them the work that is put in, isn't for the money.

"My hope is that maybe someone far away will watch it and enjoy it and make a comment." Tom says with a smile on his face.

Just wanting to share his families laughter with the world. And he has, Tom Frost has 6.1 million lifetime views and gets about 15,000 a day.
