Fargo Police Warn of Door-to-Door Solicitors

Posted: Updated:

FARGO, N.D. - The Fargo Police Department is warning people about magazine solicitors going door-to-door in the Fargo area.  The company does not have a Transient Merchant License filed with the North Dakota State Attorney General's Office.

The company, Interstate Subscription Service, based out of San Antonio, Texas, has been reported to be actively selling magazine subscriptions without the proper licensure.  People living in Fargo have reported to the police the company is utilizing various tactics to be let into the home.  The solicitors have been reported to be asking residents to sign petitions, help various charities and aid in the magazine seller's chances of gaining a vacation trip oversees.

Selling products in this manner is a B Misdemeanor criminal offense in North Dakota. If you notice this happening in your neighborhood, you are encouraged to contact the non-emergency police dispatch at (701) 235-4493.
