Update: 1 Killed, 1 Hurt in Rollover Crash Near Spiritwood, ND

Update

We now know the names of the two people involved in a fatal rollover crash last night near Spiritwood.

Leon Skjeret, 48, and Harmony Olafson, 24, both of Jamestown, North Dakota, were traveling northbound on Stutsman County Road 62 en route from Spiritwood, N.D., to Wimbledon, N.D., at approximately 9:40 p.m.

The vehicle dropped off the east edge of the roadway and the driver, Skjeret, over-corrected, losing control of the vehicle.  The vehicle slid sideways across the roadway and entered the west ditch.  The vehicle overturned several times in the west ditch.

Neither Skjeret nor Olafson were wearing seatbelts and were ejected from the vehicle.  

Skjeret was pronounced dead at the scene.  Harmony Olafson was injured and taken to Jamestown Medical Center by Stutsman County Ambulance with non-life-threatening injuries.

The crash is under investigation by the NDHP.

 


 

Original Story

A rollover crash near Spiritwood, ND left one person dead and another hurt.

It happened just before 10:00 Wednesday Night on Stutsman County Road 62.

The North Dakota Highway Patrol says a truck drove over the edge of the roadway and as the driver tried to get back on the road he over-corrected and lost control.

The pickup rolled several times, both the driver and passenger were not wearing seat belts and were thrown from the pickup.

Troopers say the driver, a Jamestown man, died at the scene.  The passenger, a woman from Jamestown, was taken to the hospital with non life threatening injuries.

Names of the victims will be release when their families are notified.
