Video Time Lapse: The Rise of One World Trade Center

Posted: Updated:

NEW YORK - As the nation paused Wednesday morning to remember those who died twelve years ago in the September 11 attacks, friends and families gathered at Ground Zero and read the names of loved ones lost there.

Since then, a new landmark has risen on the site as part of the city's efforts to memorialize and honor those who died in the attacks. The glass and stainless steel skyscraper One World Trade Center (1WTC) is nearing completion after nine years of construction.

To commemorate the 12th anniversary of the World Trade Center attacks, EarthCam has released a spectacular hand-edited time-lapse video highlighting construction progress from October 2004 to September 2013.

This professional time lapse features the rise of 1WTC, including the installation of the spire and invites you to witness the transformation of downtown New York City.

We bring you this video in the same spirit which guided the tower's design: one of resilience and hope.
