Too Few Tickets For NDSU Students

Posted: Updated:

Bison football players are gearing up, preparing for their first home game, and so are the fans. Even for cheering practice, Bison fans are turning out these days. But with ticket sales at an all time high many NDSU students won't be at the games.

The crowd is a big part of the herd's strength.

"Our students are the drivers they're the energy they're the magic behind the dome atmosphere," says NDSU Athletic Director Gene Taylor, "and this is a great event tonight to be able to teach the new ones what to say and how to say it."

Bison students piled in to practice their cheers, but limited seating means some students won't be there on game day.

From section 16 all the way to section 11 is 4,000 seats saved for students. That leaves 10,000 students looking for tickets, because this year all tickets sold out in just a few hours.

"They went able to be picked up Monday morning at 8 o'clock and by 10 they were gone, I think we've done a pretty good job getting the message out, they get them early, you don't get them early they won't be there." Taylor says.

"Everybody tells you get online Monday morning at 8 am to get online and order them, they go fast." Says freshman Macie Wenner who's lucky enough to have gotten a ticket for this Saturday's game.

On game day some tickets may still be available, but all the students care about right now is getting their chants down right.

"There's very few teams that have great fans like we do and we're very fortunate." Says NDSU Quarterback Brock Jensen, "Our fans they got our backs, they travel so well to our away games, we appreciate what they do for us, they get us up for every game, and it's fun to play for them on Saturdays."

"It's Bison football, that's what we're here for that's what we're about." Wenner says.

A few fans missed some words and chants but they do have a few days before that kickoff Saturday at 4, when NDSU hosts Ferris State.

Students or non-students can catch the game that will be televised on KVLY with the Pre-game show starting at 3:30pm, kickoff at 4 PM.
