Woman Identified in Car-Train Crash

We now know the name of a woman killed when her car was hit by a train in Cass County Sunday night. Judy Rahlf, a 67 year old from Cooperstown, was trying to cross the tracks on a gravel township road southeast of Page, North Dakota, when her car was hit by a BNSF train.

The train was going just 52 miles per hour at the time and pulling more than 70 cars. The train crew saw the car, sounded the horn, and tried to stop, but was unable to.

Rahlf's car was pushed a third of a mile down the tracks before the train stopped.  She was airlifted to a Fargo hospital where she died.


A 67-year-old North Dakota woman is dead following a vehicle versus train crash near Page, North Dakota. Troopers say the crash happened around 6:30 Sunday night.

The woman was driving a 1991 Chrysler Concorde, trying to cross the railroad tracks. But, the train, pulling more than 70 cars couldn't stop on time. It was going more than 50 miles an hour and drug the woman about a third of a mile.

She was airlifted to Sanford Medical Center where she died.
