Xcel Power Outage Hits 3,300 Fargo Customers

Posted: Updated:

A Tuesday night power outage left more than 3,000 Fargo households and businesses in the dark.

The outage happened around 8:30 p.m.

Xcel Energy says about 2,700 customers got power back on in about 2 hours. But the rest didn't get power back until around 2 a.m. on Wednesday morning.

A spokesman for Xcel Energy says the cause is heat related, a conductor shorted out.

They say this type of outage is more likely to happen when it's hot out and so many people are using air conditioning.
