Fire Destroys South Fargo Trailer Home

Posted: Updated:

There isn't much left of a trailer home in south Fargo after a Friday afternoon fire. It happened at 44 Domingo Road just before 2:30p.m.

One woman was home at the time with her two dogs and they all made it out of the home safely. The fire marshal says the fire started in the entry way and a neighbor called in the fire.

The woman living there says she didn't notice the fire until her dogs started barking. Fire fighters worked for more than hour to get the blaze under control. Smoke filled the streets as, what seemed like all of, the neighborhood came out to watch.

Fire fighters say this damage could have easily been worse if they weren't prepared.

"I believe some of the vehicles were standing by in the station cause we try not to commit all of the vehicles to one fire," explains fire marshal Norm Scott.

Fire crews throughout the city were busy responding to other fires Friday afternoon, and having some reserve teams on hand paid off in this situation.

Fire crews were able to stop flames from spreading to homes around here and causing further damage. Investigators are on scene trying to determine the cause of the fire.

The Red Cross is helping the family who was displaced. Family members of the woman who lives there were arriving to comfort her shortly after the incident happened.
