8th Annual Grape Harvest & Stomp Festival

Posted: Updated:

For the 8th year Red Trail Vineyard in Buffalo, North Dakota, will host the 2013 North Dakota Grape Harvest & Stomp Festival.

Eight years ago the festival started under a small 10X10 tent in the back of the vineyard with just about 7 people. It has now grown to at-least 500 people, dozens of vendors, live music by Monroe Crossing and Tucker'd Out, along with several contests including the famous grape stomp.

Competitors in teams of two must stomp 20 pounds of grapes in 90 seconds, the juice is then drained for 30 seconds and weighed. Last years winner stomped out 5 pounds & 14 ounces of juice, the Valley Today's John Trierweiler, tried to break that record Friday morning but fell short by just one ounce.

Tickets for the festival are $20 in advance or $22.50 at the gate. The Red Trail Vineyard is located 2 miles north of the Ayr North Dakota exit (317) on I-94. The event runs from 1:00 in the afternoon to 8:00 at night, Saturday, August 17th.
