Engaging Teens In Science

Posted: Updated:

It's a unique opportunity for teens this weekend, to learn more about science and get some hands-on experience.

Release from the Fargo Public Library:

Are you a future chemist? Area teens are invited to a hands-on workshop full of interesting and engaging chemistry experiments at the downtown Main Library on Saturday, Aug. 17, led by Dr. Graeme Wyllie from the Concordia College Science Academy.

The Great Chemistry for Teens Science Program will use the power of science to show teens how to test for and determine the amount of the chemical triclosan in antibacterial soaps. Teen scientists will get to carry out a range of cool, safe chemistry experiments with the help and direction of Dr. Graeme and the Concordia Chemistry Team.

Two 90-minute sessions are scheduled; the first session is from 1 to 2:30 p.m. The program is repeated at 3 p.m. Space is limited; pre-registration is required. Register online or call the Teen Librarian at (701) 476-5978 for details.

Fargo Public Library events are free and open to the public. Adults must accompany children under 10 years old. For more information regarding the Fargo Public Library and a list of upcoming events, visit the library's website, www.fargolibrary.org.
