Some Road Projects Finishing On Time or Ahead of Schedule

Posted: Updated:

More and more orange is disappearing around the valley as some construction projects start to wrap up. Some of those projects include:

Fargo I-94

The North Dakota DOT is making great headway on the massive I-94 construction project. The three phase project tore up five miles of I-94 from the Red River to West Fargo. Original work called for painting of the I-94 pedestrian bridge, preventative maintenance work on the I-94, I-29 tri-level interchange and concrete pavement repair (CPR) work in both directions on the five mile stretch.

CPR work is complete west of the Red River, crews are still finishing up work on the Red River bridge. Work on the tri-level, pedestrian bridge and elsewhere throughout the five mile work zone is now complete. The DOT says with good weather this project could be finished by Labor Day.

Veterans Boulevard

Veterans Boulevard has been torn up from 32nd Ave. to 40th Ave. South, for a complete re-construction and widening of the roadway. Work is on track for completion, crews this week will be placing topsoil in the boulevards, putting in the new bike path, placing the colored median, securing signal bases at 36th Ave. and completing the asphalt tie-in at 40th Ave.

Important dates for this project include:

August 23- Open for traffic, outside lanes only.

August 27- School at near by Sheyenne and Liberty begin.

September 15- Project Completion, pending rain delays.

I-29 south of Grand Forks

Work is on schedule, awaiting contractor arrival to begin concrete installation. Work there could also be finished by Labor Day or shortly after depending on weather.

Hwy 10 from Detroit Lakes to Boyer Lake

A single lane of westbound traffic is expected to shift across the median Wednesday or Thursday. Traffic will remain a single lane in each direction for about a week to a week and a half. Both lanes in both directions are expected to re-open by the end of next week.

Hwy 10/Hwy 75 in Moorhead

Work is on schedule. Resurfacing will begin on Main Ave. between the Red River and 8th Street within the next couple of weeks. Fence and concrete work continues on 8th Street near Concordia College.

I-94 from Downer to Barnesville

Re-construction of the Eastbound section of interstate is on schedule and on track for a late September completion.

Dates and completion on all above projects could change due to weather. For additional project updates visit: www.nddotfargo.com or www.dot.state.mn.us

Even though some projects are finishing up early, North Dakota Department of Transportation Assistant District Engineer, Kevin Gorder, reminds that construction season runs through October and not all projects finish at the same time.

"When you get outside the Fargo metro area we still have a number of projects that are on-going, in the Gwinner area, Wyndmere area, there's some projects up by Grand Forks. So as you travel up and down the valley and on our state highways and even the county and other systems look for construction and be ready for it," said Gorder.
