Restaurant Report Card

Posted: Updated:

It is Tuesday, and that means it is time for this week's Restaurant Report Card.

We go through the latest health inspection reports to find out which eateries have the most violations. This week, we highlight three restaurants that needed to clean things up.

We begin our report at Wendy's on 13th Avenue South in Fargo.

While there were only a couple violations, they were major ones. Everything needs to be marked with a date, but some of the food items in the coolers were not marked. Each piece of kitchenware is supposed to be washed and sanitized after each use, but the can opener blade had food buildup.

We tried reaching out to a representative for Wendy's, but one was not available.

Our next restaurant was Shanghai Chinese off of 25th Street in South Fargo.

Fan guards on the exhaust system needed cleaning so dust would not fall onto the food. The owners were using cardboard to line shelves, which may become dirty over time, and the floors had debris buildup.

Again, we tried contacting an owner, but one was not available.

The final restaurant we looked into was Speedway Bar and Grill on Main Avenue in West Fargo.

Buckets for wiping cloths did not have enough sanitizer, and there were no strips to test for sanitizer. The seals on the main freezer door were not working properly, and the menus did not have warnings on a couple food items for the dangers of serving meat that is not cooked fully.

An owner here says new menus have been ordered to correct that. He also says the sanitizer problems have been fixed.

We normally hand out a clean plate award as well. There was only one restaurant, Juano's in Downtown Fargo, deserving of the award, but the owner was not able to be reached.
