Donation Jar Stolen From Gas Station

Posted: Updated:

A Fargo family raising money for a sick loved one is struck by yet another tragedy.
Donations they raised stolen from a local convenience store and newly released video shows the criminals in the act.

32 year old Danielle Olson was diagnosed with lupus in 2005.

"It attacks her organs, her immune system," says JoAnn Matthews, Danielle's aunt.

Her family says Danielle has been through hell and back, her teeth have rotted out and she struggles with chronic joint paint.

"It's emotional at times. We've almost lost her twice," says Matthews.

But the hardest part of the journey they say came just a few weeks back.

"I went to get my coffee Monday morning and the jar was gone," says Vesna Fredickson, friend of Olson's.

A donation jar to help with Dani's medical expenses located at the Loaf and Jug on 32nd Avenue north in Fargo , was stolen.

"Her first words out of her mouth when we told her was, 'Maybe they need it more than me.' But we told her no way," says Matthews.

The thing is the people who stole the jar thought they'd get off easy but they didn't realize the whole thing was caught on tape.

This is surveillance video of the snatch.
And the family says not only are they identified in this video, but the same couple goes back to the gas station just a week later in this clip.

"It's hard to believe to see the video. It broke my heart," says Fredrickson.

They just hope who ever snatched the donation jar is snatched up soon by police.

A benefit for Danielle is being held this weekend.
A shotgun motorcycle or car run is taking place Saturday at Chub's Pub and ending at the VFW in Dilworth. There is also a free will offering dinner, door prizes, and silent auction.

The car run and bikini bike wash is from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Chub's Pub located at 421 N. University Drive in Fargo.
The run will end at the VFW in Dilworth and the dinner will take place from 5:00 PM - 7:30 PM  And then a silent auction from 6:00 - 9:00 PM
