F-M Pride Parade

Posted: Updated:

Marching through Fargo-Moorhead, supporters of same-sex marriage celebrated new laws in Minnesota and called for equal rights in North Dakota.

"How come we can protect those people with that, but we can't protect people from sexual orientation and gender identity discrimination? it's time for equality for all." says Fargo City Commissioner Melissa Sobolik

Pride week came to an end Sunday with this parade through town followed by a rally. Hundreds came out as community leaders sent messages of their support in the continued fight for gay rights.

Fargo City Commissioners spoke to the crowds as they wrapped up a week's worth of celebrations. They even drew the attention of North Dakota State Attorney Tim Purdon, who came to speak his thoughts on the equality he wants to see around the country.

"We are one community. And until we think like that until we stand committed to protecting the civil rights of every American, we will have work to do." Tim Purdon says.

Fargo City Commissioners are currently working to improve a city ordinance that bans discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity.
