Man Arrested for Deadly Hit-and-Run Crash Near Bemidji

The Beltrami County Sheriff's Office has arrested a Bemidji man involved in a deadly hit and run in late July.

Investigators say Martin Ubert, who's 58, was the driver of the vehicle which struck and killed Christopher Strong of Bemidji,  July 31st.

Two people found Strong's body about 4:30 in the morning on Grange Road NW just east of Nature Road.

Sheriff's investigators say skid marks and vehicle parts were found on the road.

Ubert is being held in the Beltrami County Jail pending review of the case for charges by the Beltrami County Attorney's Office.

Ubert turned himself in Friday August 2nd and told investigators he was the driver involved in the crash.  He also turned over the car he was driving the night it happened.
