Alert Citizens Help Catch Car Prowlers in North Fargo

Posted: Updated:

Neighbors in a north Fargo neighborhood woke up this morning to find out they fell victim to car prowlers.
Thankfully the criminals didn't get too far with their belongings.

Two different burglars were on the prowl last night in north Fargo neighborhoods looking for cars with their doors unlocked.
But thanks to that of a good neighbor, police were able to catch the prowlers in their track.

Daniel Corazzo has lived in this north Fargo neighborhood for the past 6 months and knows the area quite well.

"It's really quite nice. We have great neighbors," says Corazzo.

But this quiet neighborhood could of turned into that of a crime scene if it wasn't for the quick reaction from a neighbor.

"An individual had seen someone going through things," says Lt. Joel Vettel, Fargo Police Department.

Police officers received a call from a neighbor reporting a trespasser was up to no good.

"They were given a description of an individual and did set up a perimeter," says Lt. Vettel.

Police were able to arrest this man Anthony Garza.

"He is being held on numerous charges, theft, possession of drugs," says Lt. Vettel.

For Daniel Corazzo, he's just happy someone in the neighborhood was looking out.

"It gives you a safe feeling."

Police say the one common thing with both car prowlers Sunday night is that they were looking for cars unlocked.
One suspect was even found in a garage that had it's door open, a good reminder to keep your things safe even if you live in a normally quiet neighborhood.

Police were also able to arrest the suspect in the garage.
Another case where a neighbor came to the rescue by calling police after seeing suspicious activity.
Police say if you ever see something out of the ordinary always give them a call.
