Today was a great day in Fargo if you love classic german cars. Valley Imports, Valley News Live and the Red River VW Club sponsored the 8th annual Volkswagens in the Valley show on Saturday. Over 50 Volkswagen bugs, busses and other classic cars made their way to Valley Imports from across the region and Canada.
The president of the red river Volkswagen club, Joel Herman, says the cars attract a lot of interest and attention because of nostalgia and practicality, "Volkswagens will always have a cult following I think it's getting to be these days with gas prices and what not that everybody wants an old car and with four cylinders they get pretty good gas mileage."
One car at today's show took 25 years to restore and was completed the day before the event. The car's owner, Bill Borkowski says the cars are like family. "It's the love for the car like I tell people I don't really buy cars I adopt them they kind of become a part of the family and that's just how I treat them."
The Volkswagens in the Valley show raised money for the Red River Valley Asperger Autism Network.
