Facebook Post from MN Police Department Gains Attention

Posted: Updated:

A member with the Lino Lakes, Minnesota, police department wrote a Facebook post addressed to teenagers that's gaining a lot of attention.

Captain Kelly McCarthy tells KARE 11 TV she has created similar posts for other groups of people and says she is running out of people to address.

A response from the Lino Lakes Police Department Facebook page says the sarcastic post is meant to be ironic.  It states the post "is not intended to speak to teenagers of today, but is more commentary on the teenagers we all once were."

They say the real point of the post is to point out common experience with the hope that it makes the police department look less like a "force" and more of a collection of relatable individuals.
