From the North Dakota Highway Patrol:
An East Grand Forks man is in the hospital tonight after rear-ending a trailer.
Kyle Rowe, 29, was riding a BMW sport-type motorcycle eastbound on U.S. Highway 2 from the Grand Forks Air Force Base to his residence in East Grand Forks, Minnesota, when he rear-ended a gooseneck trailer towed by a Dodge D-350 in the left-hand lane at approximately 4:38 p.m.
The Dodge, driven by Jesus Diaz, 32, Jr., of Gilby, North Dakota, was attempting a left turn northbound onto 24th Street Northeast at the time of the collision. Diaz was returning from a work site on the Grand Forks Air Force Base to his place of work east of Emerado, North Dakota, along U.S. Highway 2. Diaz was charged with improper class license.
Diaz and two other occupants of the Dodge, Pedro Solis, 50, and Ricky Solis, 19, were all wearing seatbelts and were not injured. Rowe was wearing a helmet and protective clothing. He was transported by ambulance to Altru Hospital. His condition has not been released.
The trailer received minor damage. The motorcycle was totaled.
The North Dakota Highway Patrol, the Grand Forks Sheriff's Office, Emerado Fire and Rescue, Altru Ambulance, and security forces from the Grand Forks Air Force Base all responded to the incident.
