Posted: Updated:

The North Dakota Highway State Patrol says a Northwood, North Dakota, man is dead after his truck hit a tree Saturday.

Patrollers say 58-year-old, Brian E Erickson, was driving a 1978 GMC water truck north on 31st Street Northeast coming from a Northwood reservoir located about eight miles South of Arvilla.

That's when a witness says he veered off the roadway and into a line of trees. The truck hit a tree and patrollers pronounced him dead at the scene. No safety restraints were in use at the time of the crash.

The crash is under investigation.
