Riding To End Silence

Posted: Updated:

Streets were noisy in West Fargo today, that's where people were revving their engines to end a silence to a delicate problem.

The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) held it's second ride across North Dakota to raise money and awareness for mental illness. But before they rode participants enjoyed games, face painting and food. Experts say in North Dakota 93 people die from suicide every year, that's one every four days.

"I think people aren't quite there yet on that part and so that's the biggest thing I try and get out is that mental health is just as important as physical health." says Tavia Smith with AFSP.

Today the group traveled more than 130 miles across the Valley for those people.
