Woman Saved from Burning Car Sentenced to 5 Years in Prison

Posted: Updated:

The North Dakota woman who caused a fiery crash north of Moorhead that critically injured an elderly couple has been sentenced to 5 years in prison.

Brianna Pallotta of Minot pleaded guilty to felony DWI and Criminal Vehicular Operation.

She will be given credit for time already served.

Police dash cam caught the aftermath of the October 2012 crash on Highway 75, when Pallotta collided head-on with a car driven by 83-year-old Nolan Underlee.

A Clay County Deputy and some passers-by pulled Pallotta from her burning vehicle.

Five people were later honored for their heroic actions that likely saved Pallotta's life.
