Valley App of the Week: Get Glue

Posted: Updated:

Get Glue calls itself the social network for television and movie fans.

Basically it lets you check-in to TV shows, movies and sports, comment on what's happening and interact with other fans.  Then you earn points and can collect virtual stickers which is where "Get Glue" gets its name.

Signing up is easy, you can use an email or your Facebook account, but it can take awhile to complete your profile because you need to favorite 20 shows and follow 20 people.

The point of picking favorite shows, movies and sports teams is to help customize your Activity Feed and Get Glue Guide.

The feed is pretty much like your Facebook News Feed, but instead of pictures from your friends birthday party, TV shows and movies post new clips or offers to buy things.

The guide is pretty self explanatory, what shows are on or coming up.

The big draw to "Get Glue" for many people is the stickers, the more you use it and the more times you check in to shows the more "virtual" stickers you earn.

Collect 20 digital ones and you can get real ones in the mail for free.

I haven't hit the magic number yet so I'll have to wait a little longer for my Duck Dynasty sticker.

Overall  the app works fine and is worth a test drive to see if it's for you.  But unless you're watching TV you probably won't use it.

Personally I will stick with connecting and commenting with my friends and favorite shows on Twitter.
