Grand Forks Police Investigate Brutal Fight

  Police are still trying to sort out the details of a brutal, early morning fight that hospitalized one Grand Forks man and injured another.

18-year old Andrew Summers remains in satisfactory condition at Altru Hospital suffering from stab wounds.

19-year old Anthony Coautte suffered minor injuries after being struck with a baseball bat.

  It happened in the parking lot of the Fuji Steakhouse on South Washington Street at 1 a.m. Tuesday. It's a popular hangout for young people to park their cars and get together in the summer time.

  Police say something sparked a fight between half a dozen people.  Police became involved in the investigation, when 18-year old Andrew summers of Grand forks showed up at Altru Hospital, suffering from stab wounds. Police say another Grand Forks man, 19-year old Anthony Couatte was also injured, when he was struck with a baseball bat. Coautte was not hospitalized.

Lt. Jim Remer, Grand Forks Police: "There has been somebody identified, who would be considered a suspect in this thing. The issue is that we're still trying to figure out exactly what happened. Who was the primary aggressor and who might be facing any criminal charges."

  At this point, formal charges have not been filed against anyone. Police would like to talk with you, if you have any information regarding this case.

Lt. Jim Remer: "If there's somebody that was driving by or saw this from afar, we'd be interested in speaking to that person. We don't know if they're out there or not. As far as direct involvement, we believe we've identified most of those people and have spoken to them."

  The States Attorney's office will review the case for possible charges against those involved in the fight.
