Sewer back ups cause major headaches in Fargo

Posted: Updated:

A watery mess. From flooded streets to sewage back ups, those in the city of Fargo are looking forward to dry times ahead.

Intersections turned into pools. Some cars not strong enough to battle the rain waters left on streets in Fargo.

Luckily the water you see before the sun comes up, is dried up by late morning.

"I'd say by 8 a.m. things should clear up," says Lee Anderson, Public Works Supervisor with the city of Fargo.

But at the YMCA downtown Fargo, there's a lot more work to do, once the basement here dries up.

"At about 2 a.m. we got a call saying water was in the lower level and found out we had sewer back up," says Paul Finstad, President of the Y.

Once clear water in this whirl pool is now dark. A stinky mess in the locker rooms, pools, and fitness center.

"We are hoping to get it cleaned up today," says Finstad.

And as those here and all across the city try and dry out, everyone's making sure they're ready if mother nature decides to strike again.

"We're just making sure maintenance is good and we are ready if it rains again," says Anderson.
