Karlstad Native Writes New Web Series

Posted: Updated:

These days, it's not just on television or the big screen where you can watch movies and T.V. series, online projects are popping up everywhere. A graduate of Karlstad, Minnesota, is doing just that to try kick start his career.

"It's a hard business and you kind of have to make your own opportunities," Derek Stusynski tells Valley News Live.  "I'm surrounded by really talented actors and producers and the director I have is amazing, so we all just kind of came together and decided, let's do something on our own. So that's what we're doing, trying to make our own opportunities and get people to notice us."

Stusynski went to school in New York for three years and is currently living in Los Angeles. He wrote "The Walking Tedd," is one of the producers and also plays the zombie teddy bear in the web series.

The series is inspired by "The Walking Dead" television series which airs on AMC and the movie "Ted" co-written by Seth MacFarlane, starring Mark Wahlberg and Mila Kunis.

The series is written and a Kickstarter campaign just went live on Tuesday, June 25. Right now the cast and crew are getting word out to try and raise money so they can film the series.  The crew starts filming in July, and the eight-episode series will be coming out in October.
