Former NDSU Bison Track star Riley Doleza won the men's javelin at the USA Outdoor Track and Field Championship on Sunday.
Doleza through his personal best of 273 feet and 11 inches (83.50m), beating his old record by nearly 30 feet. Doleza, from Stanley, was only seeded in 14th. But after his performance on Sunday it not only won him the gold, but also saved him a a spot at the International Association of Athletics Federations World Championships. That is held August in Moscow.
Other news, current NDSU athlete Sierra Rosenau took 9th in the Jr Women's Javelin Friday. Rosenau's best throw was 43.09. And Oregon University runner, and Fargo South grad, Laura Roesler finished 5th in the Sr. Women's 800-Meeter on Sunday. Roesler ran her best of 2 mins0.23 sec's.
