NDUS Chancellor Criticizing Three College Presidents

Posted: Updated:

The outgoing North Dakota University System Chancellor is criticizing three university presidents in their annual performance evaluations, and is calling for outside reviews of UND president Robert Kelley and NDSU president Dean Bresciani.

Chancellor Ham Shirvani is also recommending no raises for Kelley and Minot State President David Fuller because of what he calls poor leadership.

Fuller says he's proud of what he's accomplished, and Kelley says he met his goals and he's perplexed by the recommendation that he not receive a raise. A spokeswoman for Bresciani says he's committed to NDSU's success and is surprised by Shirvani's analysis.

The state Board of Higher Education voted earlier this month to buy out Shirvani's contract after months of pressure from critics who questioned the chancellor's leadership style.
