28 dogs rescued from a hoarding situation

Posted: Updated:

A hoarding situation in a New Rockford, North Dakota home has turned into a large-scale dog rescue.

Becky Johnson loves anything with four legs. So when a call came in that 28 dogs needed to be rescued, she didn't hesitate.

"This case is a hoarding issue," says Johnson.

All of these dogs were rescued from a home in New Rockford, North Dakota, and brought here to the James River Humane Society in Jamestown.

"It was not good living conditions," says Johnson.

Those here at the Humane Society say it's not their job to prosecute, but it is their job to make sure the animals find a better home.

"This has been a trying three days," says Kris Meidinger, Dog Manager at the James River Humane Society.

Before these guys got here, there were only 7 dogs here. Now that numbers more than tripled. They say they need your help more than ever.

"Monetary donations would be greatly appreciated for vet bills," says Johnson.

Because the miniature pooches cost on a minimum $100 each.

Those at the humane society says they'll do what it takes, because you can't put a price on saving these four legged balls of hope.

The New Rockford police department is dealing with this situation. But those with the James River Humane Society say because the animal cruelty bills didn't pass in the state legislature, the person may only get a slap on the wrist.

They also say all of these dogs will be adoptable, some in as soon as a couple of weeks.
