5-Year-Old Hit By Car in West Fargo

Posted: Updated:

A five-year-old riding a bike has minor injuries after getting hit by a car in West Fargo Tuesday morning. It happened in the 1100 block of 46th Avenue West.

Police say the boy was coming out of the intersection and crossed the street in front of the car. According to Lieutenant Duane Sall with the West Fargo Police Department, the speed of the car was not a factor, and the driver simply didn't have enough time to respond.

Lt. Sall talks about the importance of helmets and teaching your kids bike safety,

"Obviously teaching kids to look both ways before crossing an intersection. At only 5 years old, your really need to train them and teach them what to do to stop at every intersection, whether it's a crosswalk or out in the street what they should be looking for."

The five-year-old was not wearing a helmet. He was taken from the crash by ambulance, but police say has minor injuries on the legs and arms that are non-life threatening.
