Star NDSU Player Arrested for Aggravated Assault

Posted: Updated:

A star bison linebacker is facing an assault charge after an incident over the weekend. Travis Beck appeared in Cass County court in Fargo Monday afternoon to face the aggravated assault charge. Aggravated assault is a felony and a judge set bail at $500 dollars.

Beck was arrested outside the Sports Bar in downtown Fargo at 2:45 Sunday morning. Prosecutors say the fight started inside the bar, then it moved outside, and the victim was knocked unconscious, and was still unconscious when police arrived. Witnesses identified Beck on the scene.

This is Beck's second offense; he pled guilty to minor in possession back in September.  Bison Head Football coach Craig Bohl issued this statement on Monday on Beck's Case:

"Due to the serious nature of the charge of violence, Travis Beck will go through the University judicial process as a student, and as an athlete will be suspended indefinitely from team activities pending further information. Bison football has a zero tolerance for acts of violence."

Beck is a Junior at North Dakota State University from Munich, North Dakota, and was the 2011 through 2012 most valuable player in the FCS national title game.
