Valley Man Arrested for Trying to Charge "Street Tax"

Posted: Updated:

Bemidji Police arrested a Cass Lake man for robbery after he allegedly tried to charge people for crossing the Mississippi River Trail bridge.

The victims told police they were walking on the trail Saturday night when Aaron Jones blocked the path and told them they needed to pay "the street tax."

When the victims refused Jones allegedly hit one of them in the face and grabbed the other.

Both were able to escape and ran for help.

Officers arrested Jones a short time later.
