1 Confirmed Dead in Philadelphia Building Collapse

A four-story apartment building collapsed in Philadelphia Wednesday morning. Firefighters are searching the rubble for people who might still be trapped inside.

According to authorities, at least 1 person has died and at least 13 others have been injured in the collapse.

It happened in a very busy section of the city, Center City, at the corner of 22nd and Market Streets.

Emergency crews scrambled to a building collapse in Philadelphia Wednesday morning.

Officials said at noon on Wednesday that 12 people with minor injuries have been taken from building collapse site, 2 others are still trapped.

Police say three buildings including a Salvation Army thrift store are 
affected.

Fire officials say one of the buildings involved was under demolition, but there's no word yet on exactly what caused the collapse.  

Dozens of paramedics and fire crews responded to find those trapped. 

The accident happened at 10:45 a.m. Wednesday on the western edge of downtown, between the city's business district and its main train station.
