Staying Safe On Your Motorcycle This Summer

Posted: Updated:

With the warmer weather more and more motorcycles are taking to the road, and with that comes a reminder to everyone to share the road stay safe.

It's always recommend that you wear a DOT approved helmet when riding as well as protective gear like a jacket. New this year, is a jacket called "Active Armor." It works by making the jacket more comfortable and flexible, but when hit with impact, the material will harden and protect the rider.

Motorcycle experts also recommend checking your tires for wear and dry rot when taking it out of storage. Noting that just because the treads may look fine there can be dangerous tear and cracking around the well of the tire needing replacement.

Minnesota State Patrol, Sgt. Jesse Grabow, reminds that it's everyone's responsibility to share the road especially during the summer months. "That does bring the increase of motorcycle riders out so whatever we can do to pay attention and look out for each other in that sense is really what it's all about."
