Moorhead and Dilworth:

The Moorhead American Legion Post 21 and Dilworth VFW Post 1223 Color Guards will be at the following locations on Memorial Day Monday May 27th. Military Honors will be given at each location which includes: Rifle Salute, Prayer, and Taps.

The public is invited to view the Military Honors and attend the ceremony at the Moorhead National Guard Training and Community Center (Armory) 1002 15th Ave. N. Moorhead at 11:00 AM. This year's guest speaker will be LTC Brian Melton, who is an Executive Officer with a Minnesota Army National Guard Brigade and our Clay County Attorney.

Below times are within 10 minutes either way unless noted as "Firm".

Harwood:

10 AM Harwood Oakwood Cemetery. Guest Speaker Commander Dave Rice, American Legion Department Commander, ND. Afterwards a free will offering lunch will be served at American Legion Club by the Auxiliary afterwards. If Rain all will be held at the club.

Barnesville:@

 

There will be a parade at 10 a.m., followed by a program at 10:30 a.m. in McGrath Park. Louis Kamrowski will deliver the keynote speech and Clifford Langerud will provide special music. In case of inclement weather, the program will be in the Barnesville High School gymnasium. A luncheon will follow at VFW Post 4628.

Leonard:

The American Legion Color Guard from Percy G. Carter Post 221 in Sheldon, N.D., will salute veterans during a program at 10 a.m. in Helendale Cemetery near Leonard. Refreshments will follow.

Horace:

The Horace American Legion Post 293 will host services at the following cemeteries: 9:05 a.m., Clemenson; 9:30 a.m., St. Benedict; 9:50 a.m., Hickson Red River; 11 a.m., Horace; 11:15 a.m., Sheyenne River; 11:30 a.m., St. John; and 11:45 a.m., Brink. A potluck lunch will be served at noon in the Horace Senior Center. In case of rain, the program will be at 11:30 a.m. in the senior center. Fergus Falls:

The Minnesota Veterans Home in Fergus Falls will host a program at 2 p.m., followed by an honorary walk to the Memorial Wall, and an ice cream social.

The Fergus Falls VFW, American Legion Post 30 and DAV will host two memorial services in Fergus Falls at 10 a.m. in Veterans Park and at 10:30 a.m. at the VFW.

Ashby's program starts at 9:45 a.m. in the school gymnasium. It will include a video tribute followed by a presentation from Jamie Gobel, principal at Rothsay school, on his experience in the Old Guard. During his time in the unit, he acted as a Guard of Honor at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.

A parade will form after the program and march to Veteran's Memorial Park in recognition of fallen veterans. The American Legion and Auxiliary Unit invites the public to lunch and ice cream at the Legion Hall immediately after.

Perham:

ITOW Veterans Museum will host Dad's sixth annual Waffle and Sausage Breakfast at the Prairie Wind Middle School from 7 a.m. to noon. The event is $7.50 at the door and proceeds go toward Masons scholarships and the ITOW.

Two speakers will share their stories at the ITOW museum from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Dr. William Rose will share the powerful story of his service in Vietnam. Paul Ceynowa will present on his time as a Marine in WWII and at the Battle of Iwo Jima.

Pelican Rapids:

Pelican Rapids' program, 10 a.m. at the high school auditorium., will feature speaker Veteran Richard Gabe and "Band of Faith" will perform. A parade will follow at 11:30 a.m. At noon, the Pelican Rapids VFW club will serve a lunch for veterans.

The Underwood American Legion, George Bergem Post 489 firing squad will spend the morning at area cemeteries from 6:45 a.m. to 9 a.m.. They will perform a 21-gun salute at each location. At 10 a.m., a program will be held at the high school gymnasium. Charles Kampa, veteran service officer for Otter Tail County, will be the main speaker. The Underwood High School Band and Choir will also perform.
