"Fighting a losing battle." Those are the words of the Crystal, ND fire chief Richard Mitchell. After more than 6 inches of rain, overland flooding is taking over the small town of Crystal.

The water is coming from the North branch of the Park River. Fire Chief Mitchell tells Valley News Team's Neil Carlson they've been able to keep the water out of people's homes for now.

School was canceled Monday and sandbagging is going on throughout the small town of just over 130 people.

Overland flooding is also reported in the nearby town of Mountain, ND.
