A police chase ended up with a Moorhead Police car getting smashed into early Sunday morning. About 1:00 a.m. a Moorhead Officer tried to stop on a Chevrolet Tahoe SUV on 30th Avenue South.

The suspect took off westbound, made a few turns and eventually the driver lost control at 3rd Street.  The SUV hit the flood wall and the squad car hit the SUV.  The man driving the SUV left the scene in his vehicle, but the squad car was inoperable.

The Officer was transported to Sanford Health for a sore chest and right arm.  He was treated and released.

Sunday afternoon, around 12:30 p.m., a Moorhead Officer spotted the suspect standing outside an apartment building with his dog. Upon seeing the patrol officer, the suspect ran from the scene.  His dog attempted to run after to his owner, and helped law enforcement quickly locate him hiding in some trees.

Nathan Wayne Carr, 25-year-old from South Moorhead, was taken into custody.  He is being held in the Clay County Jail on the following charges:

  • Clay County Felony warrant for probation violation from a DWI charge
  • A Gross Misdemeanor warrant for Driving after Cancellation.

Reports have been forwarded to the Clay County Attorney's Office for review and consideration of Felony charges of Fleeing in a motor vehicle and 1st Degree Controlled Substance Possession.
